While creating a website a designer always tend to give importance to the look of their site. It is no more a rumour that Microsoft is planning to make a deal with Yahoo and as such this has made the Google Inc. a bit tensed as they were also planning to go for a deal with Yahoo. The tension intensified when Microsoft raised their bid to $4.7 billion or $33 per share last weekend. Unfortunately, the terms laid down by Microsoft dosen’t satisfy the Yahoo group and thus they are not happy about the conditions. In this critical time Google has offered their long term Ad Partnership to Yahoo as a weapon to the offer proposed by Microsoft. The Top Executives in Google Inc are very hopeful about the deal, as they think that this will be profitable for both the companies and if the contract is accepted then this might effect Microsoft’s business.

The two Comapanies has already completed two weeks of testing in the last month. In the trial run, Google supplied some of its ADs which appeared at the search pages at the Yahoo site. After the test run Google’s Chairman Schmidt said that they are very hopeful about the deal and the relationship between the two companies are fantastic.

The deal if confirmed will surely make a big change in the business of the two companies. According to a business report it has been estimated that if the deal is confirmed then Google’s Ad system for search engine marketing can nearly double the profit of 2009. Moreover, at present Yahoo’s stand in the market is not that good, so this deal might change their position aswell; as the Google has a very good market share.

After Google Earth and Google Sky it is heard that Google is going under-water. Thats right a rumor has come out that at present google is working on its latest project named ‘Google Ocean’. They are trying to create a 3D oceanographic map with the help of the oceanography experts.

Ever since the Google Earth was released in 2005, people always wondered when they will see the ocean in 3D as well. There have been rumors for a long time that Google is planning add 3D to he ocean and allow sub-surface rendering for Google Earth. So, this new feature means a new version of Google Earth. Google Earth 4.3 has been released two weeks ago-it seems unlikely that we would see something new right away or the 4.3 might even have the capability to render the ocean floors already they just need to turn on some servers to make it 3D.

Google’s new plan dosen’t come as a surprise to me because of its other two creations- Google Earth and Google Sky. Now the only thing to see is when it will break the rumour and get released. Though Google Earth’s capability to overlay images and data has enabled oceanographers and scientists to add many useful layers of information about our ocean by now. These overlays can be seen in the current versions of Google Earth.

Imphase technology has invented a new form of storage disks which are based on holographic technology and can record data at high-densities thus standing as a strong competitor to the blu-ray disk. The disk is 12 cm and it can store upto 300GB of data. The disks has a life span of 50 years. However, for reading this sort of disks aspecial kind of drive named the Tapestry is needed.

At present this optical media has a lifespan of 5 years; this is  due to the degradation of unstable phase-change dyes which are used during the manufacturing process. But, in the recent future this sort of disks will provide a good solution for storing data for lng duration.

According to the Impahse- the upcoming trend of holographic disk drives will be able to store upto 800GB of data with a writing speed of 80MB/sec. For now they have aimed this product for the industrial use.

Although this new trend of data storage looks promising but its pricing is little scary. The drive itself will cost around $17847 and each disk will cost about &179 that too in bulk (I wonder how will the industries afford this new technology).

I been doing SEO for a very long time now so I thought of helping webmasters with a very common issue. The problem is that most webmasters see their site jumping in and out of the indexed. Today you check and your website is in the index. Next day you wake up in the morning and guess what, your website is no longer there. So why does this happen?

You are not giving spiders what they want.

A similar thing happens when sometimes you are ranked on page three for a keyword, then you go back to page nine, then again to page three and so forth. Your rankings sort of play around, you never know where your website really ranks.

In both cases above one very common thing is happening which I refer to as spibalance.

Just like a balance calculates which side has the largest weight so do spiders. The balance in our case has your website on one side and what spiders require in order to index your website on the other side. When you give them enough of what they need the side with your website on goes down. In other words you get indexed.

If you do not give spiders what they want, the balance will remain neutral and you do not get indexed. So what is that they want to index your website?

It is backlinks.

Now at first you start getting backlinks bit by bit, so the balance starts moving from side to side, sometimes you hit the target and you get indexed. But then again you get de indexed until you have completely out weighed the spiders requirements to index you. Think of the requirements as lots of backlinks located on the other side of the balance.

This same thing does apply to your rankings as well.

But instead of just backlinks, there are other factors that you need to give spiders in order to get the rankings and keep your position. Then improving as well your rankings. In this case the requirements to improve your rankings may increase as well, depends on what your competitors are doing. If you are going to outrank them, you need to get more links then they are getting. Aim to do better then what they are doing because on the balance spiders requirements most often are exactly what the websites that are in the number one position have.

This means the number of links, the quality, the anchor text they use and so forth.

To get indexed for example you do not need to worry about what anchor text to use.

However understand the concept, give the spiders what they want and remember when this happens it is because you are on a spibalance. You learn how many backlinks is enough by experience. Usually doing article submission to a hundred websites is enough. Directory submission less powerful so you may want to do more submissions than just a hundred, probably a thousand.

Article submission can be done using software. This should be done on regular basis, because it is not just good to get indexed but also to improve your rankings.

This is easy, the bottom line is the more backlinks you get the better. Then it depends on you and the amount of work you can do.

There is nothing quite as disorienting as waking up to the shrill scream of an alarm clock every morning and that is why this latest invention- ‘The GLO pillow‘ will offer a great alternative for waking up . It is an alarm pillow which will use light to wake you up rather than screaming alarms.

The pillow uses an integrated fabric interface for setting up the alarm. The time is displayed on the surface of the pillow using a LED grid. The alarm gets activated 45 mins before the scheduled time and the pillow starts glowing. Gradually the light’s intensity increases from 0 lux to 250 lux and stimulates a natural sunshine which is sufficient to wake someone.

The pillow is made up of 5 layers. The first layer is the outercover which is made up of 100% cotton, the second layer is of thin netting, the third layer is of foam and it disperses LED light, the fourth layer is of an LED woven substrate developed by Phillips, and the fifth layer is a 5lb density visco-elastic memory foam. There aresix SOFTswitch TM buttons to control all functions of the pillow. The pillow is charged through induction- the charging pad rests on the bed under the pillow and charges when required. The battery indicator flashes a green light while charging and a red light when it needs charge. Instead of using the interface the clock can even be activated by pulling the entire control panel away from the pillow.

Unfortunately it is still not known when this cool pillow will hit the market so till then bear the torture of  your alarm clocks.
